An Inter School English Debate competition was organized to mark the celebrations of the Founder’s Day of The Tribhuvan School, Patna. The function themed with “Let us celebrate creativity” began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest accompanied by others, which was followed by the welcome address of the principal Ms. Archana Raj.
The contention for the debate under Team A category comprising students of class IX & X was ‘Being literate is the same as being educated ‘ whereas the Team B of class XI & XII had the motion ‘Advertisements are a big deciding factor for consumers.’
The event witnessed participation of students from various prestigious schools in and around Patna giving their views with a deep understanding of the topic. They were all well-prepared for the purpose and charmed the audience to a great extent with their performance. The speeches of the speakers were well -acknowledged and well-received. All the contestants put forth their views and arguments skillfully and convincingly. There were as many as 21 teams; each team consisting of two members, one speaking for the motion and one against.
At the end of the heated but interesting debate which lasted for 3 hours, DPS Patna walked away with the coveted The Tribhuvan Memorial Rolling Trophy. At the prize presentation ceremony the chief guest Mr. N.K.Singh and guest of honour Mr. Udai Singh expressed their views on the debate topic and encouraged the students to participate more actively in co-curricular activities besides academics. The Principal Ms. Archana Raj asserted the school’s foremost ambition to provide the best academic and extra-curricular atmosphere to its students for their overall development.
The judges- Dr. Lalan Singh and Mr. B.K. Singh were highly pleased with the logical presentation of the participants. The Chief Guest Mr .N.K.Singh congratulated the participants and said that all the children very enthusiastically presented and argued cogently on the topic given to them. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Sr. Coordinator of the school Mr. Aziz Ahmad.
